Interview with Clayton Roth

Clayton Roth is the Assistant Manager of Event Operations at Roger Williams University in Bristol, RI. Roth, an immediate favorite amongst students, discovered the open position online and flew from his home in Michigan to interview for the job. Upon being hired, he relocated his home to Warren, RI and began interacting with students. After starting his position just under two years ago, caught on quickly and became a valuable member of the Roger Williams community.

His main duties include updating and maintaining Channel 5, the Roger Williams campus TV station, and handling the event planning software utilized by RWU.

Assignment: Interview

For our second official assignment, Professor Scully told us to interview someone in our life. I chose my father John Walsh, 55. He was a glazier, a craftsman of glass, for 35 years and recently retired from the profession.

His main job and duties were installing glass windows and fixtures into the massive high risers and skyscrapers in Boston, MA. He had a hand in building the John Hancock building, the Prudential building, the JFK Library and many, many others.

Show and Tell

For our first assignment in Digital New Media 101, we had to film something that we wanted to show to the class...hence Show and Tell. So after 92% of the class had trouble with their footage and the editing process, we finally got our videos online and on our blogs.

Without further adieu, here is the ROUGH copy of my Show and Tell video from my New Media class at Roger Williams University.

Enjoy...and be gentle.

Video Show and Tell

Hello everyone.

Thank you for stopping by my little home on the net. For our first video assignment, we were told to pick one thing to show off to the class and make a short 2 minute video. I chose to use the Roger Williams radio station, WQRI 88.3FM, as my topic since my regularly scheduled radio show was yesterday (Monday) from 3-6 pm.

I was able to mount my Flip Video Ultra Series camera on a make-shift tripod and do an extremely short confessional. I was also able to walk around and test my steady hand by shooting 360 degree shots to compliment my confessionals.

The raw footage will be compiled during class using Final Cut Pro and will be posted on this blog at a later date. Stay tuned!
